Nanny / Housekeeper – Nether Alderley, Cheshire (SK10)

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 gross per annum

A warm and busy family in Nether Alderley are looking for an organised, proactive and engaging Nanny to support two children aged 8 and 10, together with the smooth running of family life.

This is a long-term role combining childcare, household organisation and family support. The family employ a full-time housekeeper, therefore deep cleaning is not expected as part of this role. Instead, the successful candidate will take ownership of the children’s day-to-day needs, routines, organisation and activities.

The family are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with children, is energetic and engaging, and can encourage the children to develop independence, confidence and good habits.

Hours

Approximately 35–40 hours per week, including:

• Two mornings per week: 7.00am – 11.00am
• Monday to Friday afternoons/evenings from school pick-up until approximately 7.30pm
• Babysitting when required 
• Overnight cover when parents are travelling
• Additional support during school holidays and family travel

The family value flexibility and trust. Whilst there are core childcare hours, the successful candidate will be trusted to manage their time and complete household and family support duties around the needs of the children.

The role will involve regular babysitting and cover when the parents are travelling. As much notice as possible will always be given for these additional requirements.

Please note that Mum is very hands-on and will usually undertake bedtime on most evenings.

Responsibilities

• School drop-offs and pick-ups
• Driving children to clubs, activities and appointments
• Supporting homework and school organisation
• Preparing healthy children’s meals and snacks
• Children’s laundry and ironing, including ensuring uniforms, sports kits and clothing are washed, organised and ready for use
• Keeping children’s bedrooms, bathrooms, wardrobes, school items and play areas clean, tidy and well organised
• Managing uniforms, clubs, school communications, diaries and appointments
• Running errands and assisting with family logistics
• Assisting with holiday preparation and packing
• Encouraging the children to spend time away from devices through activities such as crafts, cooking, swimming in the family’s indoor pool, board games and outdoor play
• Proxy parenting when required
• Accompanying the family on holidays when required

Requirements

• Previous nanny, housekeeper or childcare experience
• Excellent checkable references
• Full UK driving licence and own car
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
• Organised, reliable and able to use initiative
• Confident managing multiple schedules and activities
• Warm, engaging and energetic approach with children
• Comfortable around our soft family dog!
• Teaching assistant experience welcomed.
